Our story

We’ve been on both sides of the application.

Applying for work turned into paperwork: the same details typed again, another account made, another message that never came. Hiring turned into volume: more applications than ever, and no more clarity about who actually wanted the job.

Rice & Bean is my attempt at the version where both sides get a better day.

Why we started

Hiring got faster. It never got simpler.

I didn’t start Rice & Bean because the world needed another place to list jobs. I started it because the distance between two people who want the same thing kept getting longer.

The problem isn’t people. Candidates want work that fits. Employers want people who genuinely want to be there. Everything that piled up in between is the problem.

  • Typing a résumé into a form that already has the résumé
  • A new account for every employer
  • Requirements that never say what is truly required
  • Applications that disappear without a status
  • Listings that may not be open anymore
  • Inboxes full of applications nobody meant to send

None of this is anyone’s fault. It accumulated. It can also be removed.

What we believe

A short list we hold ourselves to.

01

Easy to apply. Not effortless to apply.

You shouldn't retype what you've already written. You should still choose where you apply.

02

AI assists. People decide.

Software can line evidence up against requirements. It never gets to say no.

03

Every employer is named.

If you spend an evening on an application, the role and the company on the other end should be real.

04

Required means required.

Preferred means preferred. Written plainly, before anyone spends their time.

05

Every application gets an answer.

Including the no. A decision nobody hears isn't a decision.

06

Premium buys tools, not advantage.

Employers never see who pays us. There is no queue to jump.

The founder

Why Rice & Bean exists.

Founder — product, brand and the candidate experience

I started Rice & Bean after experiencing how frustrating finding the right job can be. Vague postings, hidden salaries, applications that vanish — and on the other side, small teams drowning in a pile they never asked for.

I wanted something calmer, clearer and more human: where applying feels intentional, employers meet people worth meeting, and nobody is left refreshing an inbox for three weeks wondering whether they were ever read.

Rice & Bean is early, and it is deliberately small. Every part of it is built around one rule — a person decides, and a person answers.

“We don’t want people applying to more jobs. We want applying to the right one to actually work.”

The name

Why Rice & Bean?

Two plain staples that go further together than either does alone — that is the whole idea. A candidate and an employer, each doing their part, honestly.
